On Sept. 1, Fitzgerald officially replaced Linda Arbaugh who retired after more than 30 years of work for the Santa Clara County Library System, of which 13 years were as Milpitas’ head librarian. Fitzgerald arrived here in May as a supervising librarian of adult and teen services following a move from the Cupertino Library. He added his move was prompted by the replacement of outgoing teen services librarian Melanie McInerney. But that move was followed by Arbaugh’s recent announcement that she too would be retiring.
